On May 7, 2004, the world stood still for K.N. The wife, mother of 7 children and local school room lunch lady was charged with attempt murder for allegedly stabbing a neighborhood women in the head with a knife.
In a Cook County, Chicago trial at the famed 26th and California Courthouse, she was found not guilty of attempt murder. Conviction on this charge would have led to a loss of her livelihood and a mandatory 6 years in prison.
Despite two eyewitnesses and a police handwritten confession against K.N., the Judge found reasonable doubt and acquitted K.N of these most serious of charges.
Using extensive pre-trial investigation, Attorney Michael J. Petro found four witnesses who testified and created reasonable doubt in the State's case. Attorney Michael J. Petro's cross-examination of the eye and police witnesses further bolstered K.N.'s case for acquittal.
As a result, K.N is back enjoying her life as a wife, mother, and lunch room monitor, a lifetime of accomplishment and hard work. K.N. was grateful for the hard work and effort by Attorney Michael J. Petro.
