On May 26, 2004, Richard C. went to trial in front of Cook County Judge Colleen Sheehan. Richard C. was an hourly union employee for a major airline. As snow hit the ground, Richard C. was blamed by his boss for the late departure of an airplane at O'Hare. His boss decided to fire him.
Even worse, his boss accused Richard C. of battery while he berated Richard C. for his performance. Things did not look good for Richard C. Surrounded by only bosses during the altercation, the airline pulled out all stops to make sure that Richard C. was convicted of battery.
Fortunately, Richard C. hired attorney Michael J. Petro to defend him. At trial, Mr. Petro destroyed the testimony of three alleged management eyewitnesses to the incident. Mr. Petro used diagrams, pictures and internal airline memos to destroy the alleged witnesses' testimony.
Richard C. was found not guilty of the battery to his boss. Chalk one up for the working man.
